SC Launches investED for Returning Women to Support Career Comebacks in Capital Market

The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) today officially launched investED for Returning Women, a training and re-entry programme designed to support women seeking to rejoin the capital market after a career break.

The programme will provide returning women with the essential knowledge, skills and opportunities to thrive in the capital market.

The launch was officiated by Deputy Finance Minister YB Lim Hui Ying at the SC.

First announced in October this year, investED for Returning Women has received over 600 applications, reflecting strong interest and demand among women seeking structured pathways back into professional employment.

Applicants’ ages range from mid 30s to late 40s, with many coming from the oil & gas, banking, finance and insurance sectors. Most applicants cited family responsibilities and caregiving as the primary reasons for the career break.

investED for Returning Women is designed to support women re-entering the workforce after a career break, particularly into the capital market sector. It is delivered in two phases:

REFRESH (professional & personal readiness)

Focuses on building confidence, reintroducing workplace culture, and enhancing soft skills through career clinics, personalised guidance, and networking to prepare participants for job placement.

RESKILL (technical & market competence)

Equips participants with updated technical skills and industry knowledge relevant to today’s capital market, supported by structured training, industry exposure, and follow-up support during the first six months of employment.

These phases provide a comprehensive pathway for women to successfully return to the workforce. Participants who complete both phases will receive RM2,000 in incentive and a certificate.

SC Chairman Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi said the programme aligns with the SC’s efforts to enhance diversity and inclusion in the capital market workforce, where women represent a substantial part of the talent pool.

“Among the top 100 listed companies on Bursa Malaysia, over 34% of board positions are held by women as at 1 Oct 2025.

“With the capital market’s growing sophistication and facing a talent shortage, this programme aims to tap into the experience and expertise of returning professionals to strengthen the market’s depth and resilience,” he said.

Similar to the approach taken for SC’s investED Leadership Programme, investED for Returning Women combines classroom learning, mentorship, and industry placements.

The SC will also facilitate potential employment by connecting participants with partner companies. Participants will also receive guidance from seasoned professionals in leading firms.

The programme is supported by the 30% Club Malaysia, LeadWomen Sdn Bhd, Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC), PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia Holdings Sdn Bhd (PwC) and Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad. These partners play an active role in designing training modules and offering workplace placements.

Prime Minister launches capital market talent programme to ease shortage of skilled talent

KUALA LUMPUR (June 19): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched an initiative aimed at enhancing graduate employability and ensuring a sustainable talent pipeline to ease the shortage of skilled talent in the capital market.

Dubbed NextGen Capital Market Talent (investED), the name was unveiled by the prime minister at the launching ceremony on Monday (June 19).

The initiative will improve the knowledge and employability of 9,000 university graduates, especially for the capital market industry, for the next three years.

The initiative is also expected to provide job opportunities for 600 graduates over the next three years. This will be done via job placements and on the job training provided by capital market firms under investED’s Leadership Programme.

Another 2,400 graduates will also benefit from the investED’s Foundation Programme — a structured certification programme managed by SC’s learning arm, the Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC).

Speaking at the launching ceremony, SC chairman Datuk Seri Dr Awang Adek Hussin said investED is in line with the government’s policy of strengthening the higher education system through public private sector cooperation, to produce a skilled workforce to meet the needs of the industry.

The three-year initiative was previously announced by the prime minister in Budget 2023, and was driven by the Securities Commission (SC).

The initiative was a collaboration between the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the Ministry of Higher Education, Bursa Malaysia and leading capital market players.

“investED” training programme offers employability for graduates in capital market industry

THE “investED” capital market talent programme is aimed at improving employability for 9,000 university graduates interested in pursuing jobs in the capital market industry, and providing job opportunities for 600 graduates over a three-year period.

It was launched today by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (centre), who said such talent enhancement programmes will be expanded in sectors including oil and gas, banking and information technology.

“If the capital market graduate programme can benefit 9,000 young people, the government is committed to implementing expansion to other sectors to help tens of thousands more new local talents,” he said at the launch.

He added that the graduates and students who follow industrial training (internship) will also be guaranteed to receive a minimum allowance payment.

Meanwhile, Security Commission Malaysia (SC) chairman Datuk Seri Awang Adek Hussin said this programme is to help address the mismatch of talent between graduates and the growing needs of the capital market industry, which is seeing the shift to the digital world.

“Investing for education and talent development is a priority agenda for the SC and talent cultivation is vital for an industry with high talent mobility like the capital market.

“Thus, it is crucial that the ‘last mile’ assistance be given to graduates to address this mismatch,” he said at the event.

The chosen graduates will be trained via job placements and on-the-job training, including one-month comprehensive classroom learning and six months of on-the-job placement at designated companies.

The programme is the first collaboration between the Finance Ministry (MoF), Higher Education Ministry (MoHE), and Bursa Malaysia worth RM 30 million, funded by the Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF).

“We hope this initiative will enhance the employability of graduates and enable them to seize the various job opportunities in the capital market,” he added.

In addition, the graduates will receive RM2,000 in allowance during their formal training and a minimum monthly stipend of RM2,400 during the on-the-job placement.

More than 70 companies from the capital market are participating in the investED Leadership Programme and will provide participating students with more than 200 job placements, including 150 permanent employment.

KUALA LUMPUR – Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim melancarkan inisiatif terbaharu pasaran modal, ‘investED’ yang akan meningkatkan kebolehpasaran graduan serta membangunkan saluran bakat mampan.

Anwar yang juga Menteri Kewangan berkata, program berkenaan dijangka dapat mengatasi kekurangan tenaga mahir dalam pasaran modal.

Beliau menjelaskan, inisiatif yang mendapat kerjasama pertama antara Suruhanjaya Sekuriti Malaysia (SC), Kementerian Kewangan, Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi, Bursa Malaysia serta peserta industri pasaran modal terkemuka dengan pembiayaan sebanyak RM30 juta daripada Dana Pembangunan Pasaran Modal (CMDF).

“Program ini tentunya dapat membuka lebih baik peluang pekerjaan kepada graduan.

“9,000 mahasiswa akan meraih manfaat pendedahan kepada peluang pekerjaan dalam industri pasaran modal dengan 600 orang akan terjamin mendapat pekerjaan dalam masa tiga tahun,” katanya ketika berucap di Majlis Pelancaran InvestED pada Isnin.”

Dalam pada itu Anwar berkata, kerajaan yakin jumlah pemanfaat program berkenaan boleh ditingkatkan melalui penyertaan lebih banyak pemain industri yang bekerjasama dengan universiti.

Justeru beliau berharap program seumpama itu dapat membantu pelajar daripada keluarga susah agar tidak tertinggal meraih manfaat peluang pekerjaan lebih baik.

“Ini cukup penting dan selaras dengan hasrat Malaysia Madani,” katanya.

Sementara itu Pengerusi SC, Datuk Seri Dr Awang Adek Hussin berkata, pelaburan dalam pendidikan serta pembangunan bakat merupakan agenda utama agensi itu.

“Dengan kadar peralihan bakat yang tinggi terutamanya dalam industri seperti pasaran modal, tumpuan terhadap pembangunan bakat-bakat menjadi sangat penting.

“Program ini diperkenalkan bagi membantu mengatasi ketidaksepadanan bakat antara graduan dan keperluan industri sekali gus meningkatkan kebolehpasaran graduan,” jelasnya.
